Pet peeves....

Dear Neighbors,
There is a reason for the leash law.
No matter how cute your dog is, or how
well behaved he may be, PUT HIM ON
A LEASH! I do not like being chased onto
my porch, followed down the lake trail or
forced to not walk with my dog because you
refuse to control yours.
Your dog may not bite, but mine does, and
I would like you to keep him away from her.
I would also like it if your pet did not get run
over in the street because you think he needs
to "run off some energy."
So come on responsible pet owners...put on
those leashes, get off your butts and WALK
with your dogs. And beware of the French
Bulldog with the snippy owner...SHE BITES!
Thanks!

the pleasure and the pain...

I have tendonitis of the elbow. How
did I get it? Golf? Tennis? Gardening? Oh no...I got it
from reading blogs!
I have a Mac that I use with a mouse and I am on the
internet all of the time. I started noticing a twinge of
pain in my thumb, then my wrist and now my elbow
is INFLAMED!
So in order to write this post and cruise all of my
daily reading blogs, I have to put on my wrist
splint and rest my arm on a pillow at just the right
angle so it is in line with the keyboard! It is quite a
process just to get situated and I look really stupid. But
It is totally worth it...the joy is worth the pain :O)

Spend or save???

It is bonus time at work! If we meet
our goals, we get a percentage of the profits! Times
are tough and it seems so busy and short staffed every
day if feels like I never meet a goal :o( However, I guess
we did something right because we will get a little extra
in our paychecks next week.
My thoughts immediately turned to handbags! I have
my eye on a Coach in this weird green color...or
maybe a down payment on another French Bulldog!
But alas, I will put it in the bank. I am really a saver at
heart...I dream big, but I don't like to spend my money.
Boring!!!!!

I want a tan!!!

It would have been a perfect weekend for
going to the beach and getting my tan on. But I am held up
until after I go to see the dermatologist next Monday. I need
to have a skin check to make sure I don't have any
"questionable" moles. My Dad died from metastatic
melanoma (albeit not the type that originated from his skin),
but I must do it. I would feel like a total jackass if I walked
into a dermo appointment with a tan! That would be like
walking into rehab with a bottle of whiskey. So I will wait...
and when I get the all clear, it is gonna to be
COPPERTONE CITY baby!!!!

In my dreams I am a Kenyan. In reality, I am
a hippo in running shoes. I have a short stride,
stoopy shoulders and I get blisters that leave me
incapacitated.
I was at the running store with my half-
marathoner husband when I saw these socks.
They are for marathoners, ultra-marathoners
and people prone to blisters...for the low, low
price of $25!!!!
But I bought them and I tried them! It didn't do
a thing for my actual running skills, but I am
blister free! I ❤ DryMax socks!!

Kinda romantic...

I took this pic and sent it to my husband while he was in Haiti. It is of my Mac sitting in front of his computer with our "mice" side by side on the pad.
I had actually been using them to check my bank statement against my Quicken account (or wasting time on Twitter), but I thought it was kinda cute.
Now that I am looking at it, the Happy Bunny scull and crossbones notebook looks a little creepy, but that is where I keep all of my accounting cheat sheets! Appropriate don't you think?
Happy first day of Spring! YEAH!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I think St. Pat's is one of the best holidays because it's a lighthearted day that includes everyone (whether you are Irish or not) and puts most people in a celebrating mood!
I am a little more Germanic and Scottish by blood, but I am married to an Irishman whose great grandmother was straight off the boat.
So I would like to give a shout out to great grandma Charlotte, a widow who made the trip with her SIX sons from Colraine, Ireland to Augusta, Georgia to make a go of it in America! Erin go braugh Grandma!

There will be blood!

On Saturday, my husband and I went to the mall which never happens. We are not shopping people. We went to lunch and then straight to the epicenter of life, Williams-Sonoma. Did I mention I am not a great cook either? But I like pretty kitchen things.
Anyhoo, I was looking at the Kitchen Aide mixers like I have for 20 years. We finally decided to quit looking and start buying, so I picked out the chrome model.
Out of stock! But the sales lady said we could have the floor model for 10% off! SOLD! As my husband was taking it off the shelf, I put my hand under the bottom and got a long slice down the center of my middle finger!!! I am BLEEDING all over WS!
I had to use a napkin from the sample coffee center to bind my wound. I was hoping for an extra 10% off but didn't get it :o( But I have a shiny new mixer....

My lucky day!

♣ Yesterday was my lucky day! It is common knowledge that I am a nurse who works nights in the ER, but I am also the Charge Nurse. During these trying economic times, the hospital I work for is trying to save money by flexing nurses home early if it isn't busy. I usually hold a drawing in an effort to be fair ...I NEVER put my own name in the drawing...as "the boss" I should be the last rat off the ship right?
Well yesterday I broke form and put my own name in the drawing...AND I WON!!! I got to leave at 4am. I didn't want to go home because I would wake up my husband, so I went to the grocery store. I spent over an hour BY MYSELF (and a few stock people) walking up and down the aisles looking at all the products I usually feel too rushed to see or contemplate. It was absolute silent bliss!
Then I went and filled my car with gas...and then I went to the post office and mailed some items using the self-serve weight/postage machine. I did all of this and I was home making breakfast by 6:30! This means I was in bed before 8am and I slept until 6pm. I was the ♣♣♣BEST♣♣♣ day ever!!!

A sunshine day...

It was a warm, sunny weekend here on the east coast. People were out working in their yards and running on the beach. Hubs and I had lunch on the deck at one of our favorite restaurants and it was awesome.
I also had my hair done which I always love. My hair is short, so it has to be cut and colored every six weeks. I found out that my hairstylist did a pedi for Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas a few weeks ago when they were in town! She told me every detail. However, I was disappointed that she didn't save me any nail clippings or some filings from her bunions...I could have made a fortune on ebay! HA!

I saw the signs...

These are the beautiful cherry blossoms from last year in Washington D.C. during the Cherry Blossom Festival.
My best friend Mare lives in Alexandria and I went up to for the weekend to visit her and her girlfriend Joan.
We went to the CBF, we had drinks in the Round Robin bar at The Willard, and then saw an Annie Leibowitz photo exhibit. The exhibit was wonderful. My favorite portraits were of Queen Elizabeth II and Johnny Cash.
The time change is next Sunday so that is another sure sign of Spring!
